I am overly pleased to have found this site. I have been smoking/curing meats and fish for about a year now. I have more books on the subject than I can count. Some are helpful, some are not. Where I live, home smoked anything is extremely rare. It is great to have somewhere to bounce ideas - get tips and help.
As for what I use... I currently have a 4' propane smoker. I started out with a charcoal smoker, but quickly learned, you get what you pay for. The paint caught fire after it's third use.
