I live near Dadeville, AL on beautiful Lake Martin. I smoke with a Smokin Tex smoker, and have an 1100 pound Klose smoker that I occasionally fire up. But I'm looking to build a small smokehouse, and that's how I found y'all, as it looks like there's a lot of good advice on this site regarding smokehouse construction. I look forward to learning a lot from y'all.

Howdee Striper and welcome.

Man is Wes W's brick smoker awesome or what? Ya know my Dad always compared somethings to a brick Sh*thouse, I think he might have been mistaken he should have said a brick smoke house. If there was a monthly smoke magazine his pictures would have staples in the center. There are some good looking wood frames also.

Nice to meet ya, good to know another smoker.

Foamheart,
Thanks for the welcome. I see that you live in god's country - I grew up in Natchez, MS on the border of paradise. I'd appreciate it if you could give me the link to Wes W's smoker, as I'm still learning my way around the site. Thanks in advance for your help.
Best,
WW

I've been studying the smokehouse posts for several hours. Seems that the dowels to hold the racks will be a fairly large part of the material list/cost. Question: can I use bamboo instead of dowels? I have a quarter acre patch of the right size bamboo at my hunting camp. I suppose I would have to sun dry the bamboo for a month or so, and maybe drill a small hole in each bamboo chamber to release moisture while it's drying. Thanks in advance for your help.
