Hey all! I've been lurking here for the past 2 years and finally decided make a profile.  My name is Pat, born and raised in the Chicago area.  Started off smoking with a Weber kettle, moved to a Bradley Digital, and now I'm back to charcoal/ wood with a Dyna-Glo vertical offset. Already started to mod the Dyna-Glo, the thing leaks smoke from everywhere.  So far I have applied high-temp RTV to all of the seams and I have also added a lavalock gasket to the fire box door/ main door of smoker.  Thinking of swapping out the built-in thermometer (seems inaccurate). If anyone has this smoker and has any additional mods/ suggestions let me know!

I usually smoke ribs/ brisket/ chicken/ lamb/ venison but am currently trying my hand at making bacon (I'll follow up after the pork belly is done curing).  Any and all advice is welcome!

Thanks for having me,

Pat

Welcome to the group Pat!  Accurate thermometers are a must!  I monitor the smoker temp and the meat temp with my Maverick.
