Greetings all,
I have been grilling for a couple of years and trying and I do say it loosely trying to smoke some meat for the last year. I have a Char-Griller 2121 and just purchased a SFB last week for the unit. I have been trolling on the forum for modifications for my grill/sfb and well after my first smoke going really bad (some metal taste in the food unknown source luckily only chicken) I have torn down the unit, scrubbed it clean and fired it again last night just to season the unit again in 30 degree weather and snow. I made the following mods last night before I fired the unit, I did the chimney extension, grate for the SFB, baffles out of 28gage steel. It went well but holly smoke release around the lid which I did notice on my first smoke but will be taking care of that in the future. I was able to get the temp within 10deg on the new guage's but could not get it to go over 225. Maybe it's because of the excess smoke escaping around the lid plus the 30deg temps outside with the snow but who knows but I am not deterred from trying again.
