Hello,

I just joined SMF today although I have been visiting this site for the past couple of years for grilling/ smoking/ life advice and have found the tips recipes here quite useful.  I hope to be able to begin to contribute some of my own experiences in the near future.

About myself:  I am a full-time graduate student and my studies require me to be away quite a bit during the week.  I love to spend my weekends out of doors, watching SEC football, and spending time with my wife and newborn son.  Despite my obvious time constraints, I always manage to find time to spend working on some ribs, butts, and chicken.  I'm actually planning on trying my hand at beef brisket in the not too distant future.

My equipment:  I have a Char-Broil Professional series LP grill that has been ruefully neglected for the past year or so.  I have a nearly 20 year old Weber classic charcoal grill that I have used for years.  I have taken this grill nearly everywhere and it has been indestructible.  Just last weekend I purchased a Vision Grills Classic Kamado and I look forward to figuring out the nuances of ceramic grilling/ smoking.

Tomorrow I will be putting a corned beef brisket on the Kamado for the amateur drinking holiday of St. Paddy's Day.  I will try and post some pictures along the way.

I look forward to participating in the SMF community.

Well, to be honest, I have enjoyed this forum immensely over the past few years, yet haven't really found the time to post much.  I hope to change that here in the near future - starting with a beef short rib smoke I plan on doing tomorrow.

I have since relocated to the upstate of SC and have been smoking quite a bit - I've come a long way since that first pastrami.  Still using the same Vision Classic Kamado and am very pleased with the results that it produces.
