Hello, my name is Dave and live in Apopka, Florida which is just northwest of Orlando. I have been smoking for quite a few years with 1st the bullet type charcoal, then the Brinkman side firebox type large charcoal smoker, and now thanks to the "b-day gift to myself", the Masterbuilt 40in electric unit I bought the other day at Sams. I wasn't really looking for one but the price seemed good @ $299 so I just bought it. I will admit that I have been a lazy smoker lately and would start ribs in the oven then transfer out to the smoker for flavor so the electric unit is the way to go for me. I seem to have re-sparked my interest in the art that is smoking and hope to learn and share as much of the good and bad that comes along with this type of cooking. I bought the smoker on tuesday and seasoned it as per directions, then smoked some baby backs just to get a feel for the new appliance. All in all I was pleased with the outcome but there are some tweaks that must be addressed to make the end product something special. I will post over in the equiptment section about the mods I have planned and post back with the end result. Thanks!
