Hello, my name is Ross and I call Cedar Rapids, Iowa, home with my wife Morgan and our 7-month-old Golden Retriever, Fletcher.  I have been smoking since January of 2014 when I bought my first smoker with money from our wedding :)  I have a Louisana Grills CS-570 that I have been very pleased with.

I have been following Smoking-Meat.com even before I bought my smoker and love the weekly newsletter....never knowing what goodies are coming in the mail every Thursday...which also is my day off and usual smoking day.  I started with chickens, progressed to ribs, then pulled pork, and finally, for my Dad's birthday this year, did my first brisket with great results following Jeff's recipe.  I have had a few "learning experiences" since starting but enjoy the challenges!

Today in particular we are digging out from our first accumulating snow here in Iowa which is a perfect day for a practice run for Thanksgiving, which I'll be smoking 2 turkeys for my wife's family (no pressure eh?).  I tested Jeff's Smoked Maple Turkey recipe and am anxiously awaiting the results in about 15 degrees :).  Also have a cushion roast I am trialing for pulled pork for my Mom...another of Jeff's recipes.

Look forward to participating in the forum and soaking up some of the wealth of knowledge here!
