Hey guys and girls,
I've been lurking for a week or so, thought I'd introduce myself. Looks like there's not alot of west coasters on this site, but I suppose that's to be expected. California isn't exactly known for it's great Q, but hopefully I can at least put my own backyard on the map when it comes to good Q joints!

Forgot to mention that I just got a brinkman snp pro last weekend from a coworker for free. He got a Traeger cuz it was too hard for him to control the heat on the snp. It's no wonder, there's so much of a gap in the cleanout door on the firebox and the lid of the firebox that there's no way to control the fire. I've done some flashing to seal off the gaps, but could probably use some more tips on sealing this thing up. I've heard of using wood-burning stove gasket, but where can I find that stuff? I've also done the other mods, like adding the flashing to the stack to bring it down to grill level and adding a heat sheild/baffle to even out the temps a bit more.

hey there jrbruin welcome to the forums! Where in cali you at?

I think any fireplace supply store should sell the gasket you are looking for, or maybe a barbeques galore if you can find one. for temp control you may want to make sure your thermometer is calibrated right, also you can add extra thermometers in the lid to take temps at grill level. There's a bunch of threads on how to do that.

Thanks all, to answer your question Brennan, I'm from norcal (san jose area). Also, I'm a homebrewer, so I've got plenty of temperature measuring devices around :) I bought another digital therm yesterday though, so now I have two (one for the meat and another for the grill level temps).
