Hey all. My name is Josh, I'm from California. I'm really just getting into smoking. I have a cheap weber smoker right now, but I want to build one. I want to start out with a 3x3x6. I would like to be able to use it as a cold smoker as well. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Welcome Josh! Glad to have you with us! You might  want to take Jeff's 5 day e-course. Lot's of good info there, especially for new smokers. As for the build, try the search feature and read about many builds to get some ideas of what you may want, then feel free to ask questions.  Many folks here happy to help you.
