Hi everyone!

We are from Brainerd MN.  We have a family membership of KCBS now (3 girls aged 5yrs-5months), and have been for a couple years.  My Wife & I were intially introduced to the BBQ world when we became KCBS judges about ten years ago.  That planted the seed for the awesome hobby that it is.  We judged some events after that, traveled as far as AL checking out contests. But I didn't get my first pit (18.5 WSM) until a few years ago.  Once that was here the obsession took off.  Since then...

-another WSM 22.5"

-traeger Texas 075

-another Texas 075

-Traeger PTG

- 2 Weber Kettles

-Paul Kirk class

etc

etc

yep the gas grill is lonely and rusting now :)

We just did our first KCBS contest this weekend

My goals were not to miss a turn in, and not to come in last.

Results:

2nd place chicken wings friday night

11th out of 25 teams on Sat, with a walk for 7th on chicken

Hooked for sure now

Take care everyone!

Looking forward to what can be shared  and learned on this site!!!!!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  Might meet a few neighbors!

Oooooo.....some of the folks who do comps will love to hear what you thinking about the comps....participating as well as the judging and what is looked for too!

You should sign up for Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, and it's great!  This is chock full of great information....no matter what your experience level might be!

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

I just started smoking last fall and had limited success until I found this forum. Now I know what you mean about addiction.

I look forward to getting new ideas and learning from your posts!
