Just bought my first smoker - it's the masterbuilt electric smoker from sam's club. If you can believe it, I have never had real smoked food but watching all those BBQ shows on the food network got me salivating, and then I saw this smoker at SC and couldn't resist.

I attempted my first smoke this afternoon using Smoke & Spice's Alabama smoked chicken sandwich recipe. It turned out pretty good for a newbie, but left room for substantial improvement.

I hope to try again using a brisket (only the point cut) that I bought, assuming I can find a good recipe. Any Ideas????

thanks in advance

Welcome to the SMF! This place will have you up and running shortly. The 5 day e-course is a great place to start for knowledge.

For brisket, many here really like the Smoky Okie method (look for a sticky in the beef section). I plan to try it soon.

Welcome tot he SMF, and congrats on the new MES. Keep on tryin', it only gets better.

May all your smokes be thin and blue.

I forgot to ask.....what part of windy city area are you from? I spent time (20 years) up by Great Lakes Naval base.
