I am new to propane BBQ / Smoking and found this site that has really helped....  I am an avid hunter and fisherman....  along with a great open market I have a lot of variety of things to smoke... I pay the bills by working as an Engr at GM....   I purchased a propane vertical smoker by Char Broil so I can smoke year round...  I originally had a Brinkman vertical Charcoal smoker but the colder temps outside limited my smoking to summer months...   Not sure if I can add / help but I will weigh in if I can lend some experience....

Welcome from a MI man to. I know Michigan all to well. In the winter time. Don't leave the propane where it can get too cold and freeze up in the bottle. And yes it can freeze up. Store it somewhere where it will stay above freezing in the winter months. Good luck on your new adventures in smoking. Can't wait to see what you make.
