Hi I am new to smoking. I live in South Louisiana. I have B B Q'd a bit along the way but never smoked. I am interested in learning whatever I can. I have a Chargriller Duo which has the gas grill on one side and the charcoal grill on the other. I also have a Brinkmann smoker that I just bought. I look forward to hearing your opinions on getting started. Thanks Shannon.

Welcome to the SMF Shannon!! Consider taking Jeff's free 5-day course and check out his rub and sauce recipe. Look around the forum and you will find plenty of good info. In fact if you read everything....it might be months before you start smoking....check out a particular area you are interested in and look at that one and give it a try. Ask questions if you need help.

Thanks for the advice, I have taken the e-course a few days ago. It was great I learned alot and can't wait to try it.

Welcome Shannon...look into the mods for your Brinkmann... Baffle/tuning plate and stack extension...and most important a charcoal basket.

Enjoy!

Good luck to ya... I am new to the forum also. This is a great place to pick up new things and also learn cool stuff. I have been smokeing meat for a while now and just tried the spritzer "3 to 1" apple juice to spiced rum every hour. This was a winner. I will do it every time from now one. good stuff.

I guess I must mention that my Brinkmann smoker is the Smoke N Grill. The vertical water smoker type.
