My name is Renee,

My husband myself and another couple have been smoking meat for a bunch of years now between us all and we are in the process of starting up a business with it here in Cecil County, MD. All 4 of us of course have regular full time jobs but are slowly getting started with our LLC and all of the fun details of the business (Oh Joy! NOT! haha). Our friends already had a small business in BBQ sauce and we are just trying to combine the two at this point. We have a pretty big smoker with a rib box, Charcoal BBQ and we have done some customizing by adding a box for wood and charcoal and some safety fixes here and there as well. We really enjoy cooking and serving people and the men in our LLC would like to retire from their construction jobs one day and do this full time.

However, starting a business in MD is really difficult! I'm sure its difficult everywhere I just feel like I am getting overwhelmed with how much stuff you have to do to become a business down here! Anyone on this forum from Maryland? Is there any tips y'all could give to a 1st time business owner?

We don't have the funds right now to buy a concession trailer but we are hoping to in the near future. Currently we just have the smoker, tents, chairs and such. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Picture of Smoker just for attention! :-)

Hi Renee, looks like a nice smoker. I can't help with your questions, but this topic has been brought up before. Maybe try a site search for info. Good luck sounds like you have good plan. Keep us informed.

Hi Renee, welcome to the board! That's a sweet rig. Many people here run some kind of catering biz so they could advise you, but I suppose the details on that would vary from state to state.

Good morning and welcome to the forum from another hot and humid day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.   Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.

Thanks! We got it from a company called Northern Smokers in PA they do custom builds.

Thanks! I'll try that! This site has a lot of great information! Everyone here seems to know a lot!
