I am new to the forum but not to smoking . I have been smoking about 5 years now on a Bradley digital it works well but I wanted to try propane smoker so I bought a   GOSH 3605BGD Big Block. I haven't used it yetmainley because I need to know what type of wood to use chunk , chip or pellet and that is what brought me here looking for answers. This seems like a great site lots of diffrent ideas. Thanks for alowing me to join and be part of the community.

Welcome and enjoy.

I can't help with your question since I use a MES, but someone will be along.

Welcome to SMF glad you joined us. Congrats on the new smoker that model is a great choice. You can use either or both try them and see which you prefer. Chunks generally last longer. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. Have fun and happy smoking

I think since most gassers use a chip box or pan so you can use chips or chunks .

The chunks will probably last a lil longer. But you can get creative and use say ,pecan chunks and add a small hand full of cherry or apple chips or if you want a lil stronger smoke when doing beef or larger cuts you can add mesquete chips.

BTW . Welcome to SMF!!!

Hello, and welcome to the SMF. I started out with chips and quickly moved on to chunks. Seems like less time spent loading. I also started using RO lump along with the chunks, good combo when using my big block. It's all good my friend.
