Hello everyone... My name is Saqueo and I am from the Coastal Bend area of the great state of Texas. I recently purchased a GOSM from the local Wal-Mart... it was an "open box" buy but I figured for a $100.00 I'm pretty sure I could figure it out! I went online and googled it and found this forum, read some posts and got it going... never did season it ... but have smoked aprox. 4 racks of babyback ribs, chicken leg quarters, sausages, and even a brisket. I am very impressed with it and the low temperatures I can cook with. This gives a new meaning to cooking low and slow. I should have brought one of these a long time ago...

Welcome Saq! Ah well..didja notice any off flavors in that first rack? Prolly not... 'cause ya wern't familiar with good smoked ribs before..heh. No worries. Seasoning is important..err..was..but it's over now. Glad to have ya onboard!

Actually... Since mesquite is prominent around here I decided to use hickory to smoke with... The flavor was great... I don't understand why other users have trouble getting the gosm to smoke... My gosm has a small metal box roughly 6X6 that may be 4 inches deep. The gosm smoked for quite a long time without having to refill the box or soaking the chips. The amount of humidity around here may have something to do with it. But oh well, I'm fixing to smoke some more leg quarters here shortly so I'll post more later on...
