I've been smoking for about 2 1/2 years now, some of it trial and error but more than not it has been a grand experience.  I have MES and will be doing a 12.5 lb turkey for 6 people on Thursday.  Brine ingredients all ready to go and will be putting that together tomorrow for a 12 hour soak.  I'm going to try a mix of hickory and apple wood for the first time.  Glad I have the time to prep and no need to go anywhere with the storm rolling in.  I'm in VA and a couple of flakes makes everyone panic.

Welcome to SMF glad you found us, we all love seeing pics so post some for us when u do the bird. I did one today to avoid the snow tomorrow. Took 4.5 hrs in my MES40 I used a little rub on mine.

Good luck have a Happy T-Day

I will definitely post pix when the bird comes out ~ yours looks fabulous b t w

Thanks all.  Looks like a great group with lots of knowledgeable people to help out.  Next on my agenda will be a brisket ~ eventually lol haven't ventured that far yet,  tons of pulled pork and poultry so far.

Hello everyone, I'm from Iowa. Not to sure what to say. I have 2 smokers, one I got about 5 years ago is a Brinkmann charcoal/wood smoker. This year for Father's day I got a Smoke Hollow electric smoker. I enjoy using both smokers but prefer the electric one, because I can maintain the temperature easier.
I really enjoy the newsletters and forums that I have read. I'm still learning as I go. I will be smoking my first time turkey on Thursday and can hardly wait. Glad to be on board

Gibby62,
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it. Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

Just in case you were wondering how this site works.
Here is a link to a FAQ for the site.
