Hi. I'm Beth and I just bought my Masterbuilt smoker. I've used it 3x so far and while I definitely like the way it makes my food taste, I am not so sure I bought a good smoker.

Its a Masterbuilt, 4 Rack, Digital Electric Smoker w/Remote.  While I like it alot, I have a problem with it. It never wants to stay on for like the first 2-3 hours. I have to check it constantly every 10 minutes to make sure it hasn't turned off.  The weird thing is, is that after those 2-3 hours, it generally stays on then.

I've emailed Masterbuilt but they tell me I have to be there with my smoker and call them. Problem with that is that their open hours do not equate to my non-work hours. I'm at a loss.

So for now I will just adapt somehow to my smoker's bipolarness.

I've been reading alot of your threads and I know I found the right place for info and how-to's so I thank you.

Beth

and I forgot...I'm in Northern Virginia.

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  As for your troubles try posting your question in the electric smoker forum.  I know many folks use your smoker with great success.  If you still get no help ( which I doubt will happen ) PM me and I will find a member with a Masterbuilt to help you out.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
