Hi my name is Jason, but my friends call me JR. I am from just outside of Boston actually just a few miles from Gillette stadium so the climate in the area is all over the place and can change day to day. I have been cooking and grilling for a few years now and just bought an MES-30 digital over the summer and am new to smoking. I have done a few successful runs, once with bacon (after 7 day cure) and some ribs and chicken. Like i said I am new and welcome any and all advise especially from anyone that has MES-30 and has some helpful hints.

I have been reading about AMZN products and would appreciate any advise, also with winter approaching how does anyone in the colder region go about this? I have a garage which I have smoked in once (it started raining mid session) I opened the garage door and had fans blowing everything out. It did work fine, but if anyone has any advice that would be great.

I am glad to join the community and look forward to learning alot, thanks!

Hello and welcome to the fun.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  The trial and error method works well.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "SMF User Guidelines" .....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Hi JR and welcome to the forums!  Glad you've joined our group.  You'll find there are lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who genuinely enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

An AMNPS would be a perfect compliment to your MES.  Those gadgets work great!  As far as cold weather smoking, I'm lucky enough to have a large covered porch for smoking in inclement weather.  Some folks build wind breaks to surround their pits in cold or wind.
