I just got registered to the forum today and wanted to stop in and say hi to all. I got a brand new Brinkmann double door verticle smoker free on a trade. So far I love it. The food that comes off of it is awesome. The big problem that I have been having is heat control. On Sunday I tried to do a pork loin, but it took me over an hour to get my Cowboy lump charcoal going so had to finish the loin in the oven so the wife could have some before she went to work. I have drilled out the charcoal pan and put a great in but that doesn't seem to work too good yet. I have bought a charcoal chimney to hopefully get the charcoal kickstarted. I am thining about getting the veggie wok to try to use as a charcoal pan. I think onced I get the heat manageable I will enjoy smoking more. I am on vacation this week so think I may try something tomorrow for my daughters b-day.
I think that I am going to spend alot of time on this site just seeing what all the experts have to say. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to doing some major smoking.

Welcome, the charcoal chimney worked wonders for me!

Should help you out greatly getting that lump started.

Welcome tlottman to SMF. Hope you have many good smokes. Search through the forums and find the different mods you can make to help control your temp. If all else fails just ask.

Welcome tlottman.
Sounds like you have gotten a good start on making some mods to improve your smoker, hopefully you'll get it figured out just right. Many mods, many suggestions and many good people to help you out.
