This may get me laughed out of the forums but im completely green when it comes to smoking and just got a smoker for fathers day and have done nothing but watch youtube videos and read post on this site for the last day and a half about smoking and tips. well my question is instead of using water can you put apple juice in your water pan? or maybe half water and half apple juice or maybe a different kind of fruit juice? I dont know if this is already somthing thats done or cant be done but ive watched guys use things like sand in there water pans so i just got curious what all you may be able to use. thanks for help guys and gals..

People have been using all sorts of stuff in their water pans for years.  Some say it makes a difference, others say it doesn't.  Pick your poison or try both and see what you think.

You can put anything you want in it.  Experiment until you find what you like best...
