Either in a amnps or electric smoker. $21.99 for a 40 lbs bag. This is a blend of hickory, cherry and maple hardwood. But they also sell pure hickory and apple versions.Anyone tried them?

Haven't tried them. Pit Boss may be a fine brand but I've seen advice here to watch out for brands that add filler to wood pellets. No idea which brands they are.

I buy my wood pellets exclusively from Todd Johnson/A-MAZE-N. They're priced higher than the bag you quoted but Todd's wood pellets are 100% wood, which is what you want. The primary reason I buy from him is because he's an outstanding person and businessman. His customer service is next to none. When I find a small business which operates the way Todd operates his, I support it and then means buying all my wood pellets from Todd. For me, price is not always the main or only consideration.
