I'm not a mathematician and I don't play one on TV - didn't even sleep in a Holiday Inn last night - but I wonder if anyone has ever tried to use calculations to determine what the volume capacities are of the various sized rolls of bags that Lisa sells.

It seems to me that this is something that could be done using calculations for volumes of cylinders. I have trouble estimating the size bag to make for storing things. For things I do often, I've pretty much got it down; for new things, not so much.

If, for example, a roll of bags is 7 inches between the longitudinal seals, it should be possible to form a portion into rough cylinder of calculable diameter. Using that and setting the depth of the cylinder as a variable to be calculated for a given volume or, given a volume, to calculate the required depth. Adding allowances for sealing top and bottom and for the fact that you will only approximate a cylinder of a given diameter, it should be possible to give a good approximation of the length of a material to cut from a roll.

Do we have any mathematicians here?

FWIW, this might be a usual gadget for Lisa to have on her website.
