Has anyone ever built a cabinet around their MES?

Just wondering if anyone has ever built a cabinet around their MES. I am thinking about it cause I want it on rollers and up higher a little bit. Might cut down on the wind effecting the temp times too. Just a thought, I wanted to run it past the guys that know their MES's like the back of their hands.

See the MES Mods post. There are several stands there, but I don't think anyone has built a cabinet around one.

Yeah, I'm looking at building a cabinet to shelter it from the wind, not a stand.

I haven't found that wind bothers my MES much, if at all. They're very well insulated.

As for wheels and higher up, I wanted the same thing. Bolted it to a rolling printer stand, which gave me mobility, height, and storage.

I'm still thinking about how to build a combo stand and enclosure. I'd like it higher, more sheltered from wind, but especially set up so that I can use it if there's rain in the forecast.

A stand wind screen combo isn't a bad idea. Personally I would make the wind screen an attachment that would be attacked separately to the stand. That way you can easily wheel around the MES, and if it gets windy or rainy set up the attachment wind screen. I'm thinking the roof would be detachable.

For the wind screen portion you should be able to build it with one sheet of 4'x8' plywood for the body and a 1/2 sheet for the top. You would have to decide on thickness. Also you are just squeaking by with a single sheet, so the frame thickness will be an issue, you could use steel frame.

MES dimensions: 41" x 20" x 24-7/8

How you attach the screen to the platform will be a challenge. I think with the windscreen attached in a good wind the whole thing will be a bit top heavy and need to be tied down some how.

It would be a fun little project..
