Hi, I'm Linda from Lisbon, Maryland.  I currently have a Weber grill (that is worn out), an electric smoker (that I never made friends with), and a Large Big Green Egg.  My daughters gave me the BGE for a birthday gift in November, so I haven't had a lot of time with it yet.   The stuff I've cooked on it so far has been fabulous!  I am totally impressed with how easy it is to control the temp, making it a wonderful way to smoke.  I made an awesome smoked turkey for Thanksgiving, a rib roast, salmon, veggies..... Everything has been great.  Really looking forward to an abundance of great food!  I'm hoping to be able to ask my questions here, as well as helping others with the experiences I've had.

As far as the electric smoker goes, what I didn't like about it was not being able to control the temperature.  It was plugged in, or it wasn't.  It was way too hot for me, and seemed to smoke too fast, and dry out the food.  I didn't want to use charcoal because of the attention it would require, and I've never used propane anything yet.

I am very happy to say that I can totally control the temp with the BGE.  I smoked the turkey for 10 hours, and never had to add more charcoal.  Grilling on it has been great, even cooked a pizza from scratch in it.

I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's experiences and suggestions!

Happy New Year!!

Linda
