Happy Independence Day!

My name is Matt and I live in the Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania.  I am a "seasoned" beginner when it comes to smoking.  I remember smoking my first bone in chickens when I was still in high school, about 25 years ago.  Since then, I have tried smoking meats but got discouraged (usually from inexpensive smokers, my own lack of experience, etc.).  My wife got me a Rival KC electric smoker last year.  Upon researching recipes and techniques, I actually got that little smoker to make some nice meals!

Unfortunately, the Rival had it's last smoke.  The element is inside the body and it appeared to have burned out.

After researching the forums on here, I found a great smoker that fit my needs (namely being under $200).  After debating between a Brinkmann Gourmet Smoker and the Masterbuilt Pro Electric Smoker, I went with the Masterbuilt.  Haven't used it yet.  I just got done preseasoning it.  But, I cannot wait to get my feet wet with some pork and chicken!

I'm happy I found these forums!  They have been very helpful before I officially joined!
