Have any of you ever tried the Japaneses tomato ring? you can use wire that has 4" X 4" squares. Use a piece about 9' long tie the ends together to form a ring about 36" in dia. Fill the inside of the cage with mulch and fertilizer, and plant on the out side of the ring. Water from the insde of the ring, the roots will grow into ring, and you tie the plant to the out side.It allows for good air flow all around the plant. I planted using that last year and had one of the best crops ever, wish I had pic. Google japanese tomateo ring and you'll find a better explanation.
