Hi All,

I live in the uk and I'm looking to build a wood smoker. The firebox would be built using bricks and then the smoker section of the build with shiplap (cladding)

I'm not completely new to smoking, we picked up a Webley charcoal smoker off base about 10 years ago which is great but charcoal costs a huge amount in the uk. I should be able to get hold of a good amount of seasoned hardwood in the future hence the wood smoker build. I'm looking to do somthing along the lines of this http://www.littlethings.com/diy-backyard-smoke-house/

I'm trying to figure out the economics of it. How much wood would I use over a normal smoke. Say 8 hours for example? I know alot is down down to the moisture content, relative humidity etc but just looking for a ball park figure.

I normally do BBQS for around 8-10 people so need a good amount of space and food to come out of it :-)

BTW, if that's a crummy design by all means point me in the direction of a good one.

Thanks in advance!

Josh
