This is how I grill my steaks..

I buy a great cut of Ribeye app. 3/4 inch thick.
I apply olive oil and my special blend of seasoning. About 1 tsp per side.
I let it marinate in the fridge for a couple of days.

I preheat the grill on high for 10 minutes getting the grill up to about 500 degrees.
I then grill the steak for 2 minutes, rotate 90 degrees and grill another 2 minutes. I turn the steak over and grill 2-3 minutes.

I take the steak off the grill and let rest for 5 minutes.
I then apply a couple of pats of my herbal butter, let melt and serve.

Sounds good to me. We do similar except we pull them off the grill when internal temp of 135º to 140º is met.
Time does not concern me.
