Hello everyone! My name is Kevin, and I'm a SMOKER.

I use a Weber Smokey Mountain for my pork and chicken. I'd love to do a brisket someday, but every time I try it, it comes out tasting like bland beef. I ain't rubbing it right or something.

I use a Weber grill for grilling. I don't remember the model. I just know that it uses good old American charcoal - just like the smoker.

I am stationed here in lovely NOLA with the USCG where I serve as a Marine Science Technician. I do a lot of boring stuff like deal with environmental compliance of foreign vessels engaged in trade, safety and security regulations for waterfront facilities, and spill cleanups.

When I'm not doing that, I'm a father of one. My son's name is William and he is 1 year old.

When I'm not doing that, I'm making music. I'm pretty confident about my music. I plan on making a living with it someday.

In the fall, everything takes a back seat and I watch Alabama football. I secretly also watch Saints football, but don't tell anyone.

On top of all of that, I smoke and grill at least twice a week. It's my "me," time, and I feel like I've gotten pretty competent at it over the years.

I look forward to meeting all of you soon. I've got to get off to bed now as I've got a smoke to do early AM. I'll post some pictures!

Smoke on!

Welcome to the group Kevin, and thank your service!

The search feature here works great and if you type brisket in you'll find several days worth of reading.

Good luck and don't be afraid to share your smokes!

Welcome to SMF! :welcome:
We're glad to have you here. The search bar at the top is your best friend. This forum has been around for over ten years, so there is a good chance that any questions you may have, have already been answered (they may have 10 different answers, but you'll get an instant response non the less).
Please be sure to post your smokes along with your process and recipes. We will be glad to help you along the way and we may also learn something new ourselves in the process. Also, don't forget the very important Q view! (We're mad for pics on here [emoji]128513[/emoji])
Always remember to have fun because it's not fun if you have to work at it. Thanks for joining,
- Ryan
