Been looking into smoking ever since I caught an episode of bbq pitmasters, and the day has finally come. My local place has arranged to get a charbroil offset and a wsm in for me by Friday so I can make my choice and get started this weekend...

BlitzGreybeard, Welcome to SMF-glad to have you with us. The Charbroil off-set and the WSM will both produce some mighty fine bbq. Out of the box, the WSM would be the one that I would go with. It need no modifications to improve it. the Charbroil will work but it leaks smoke like water through a sieve. There are threads here that talks about the modifications that you can make to the Charbroil off-set that will make it perform like the high end off sets.

Now the only question is; if you go with a WSM are going with the 18.5 inch or the 22.5 inch unit?

I have a home built Mini WSM that's made from a Weber Smokey Joe Silver grill and a tamale-that thing is easy-peasy to use. It's mostly Ma Dutch and me that I smoke for and the Mini works just fine. For a larger group, I'll pull out the GOSM or the Lang 60.

Enjoy the Smoke!

All I can add to that advice is a big Texas hello and welcome, be interesting to see which way you go.

Thank you both for the welcome! Looking more in to this, I am thinking I may go the WSM to start as it is primarily me and my lady I bbq for. But final decisions must sadly wait for point of sale... lol
