I just got a Weber Smoky Mountain for Father's Day, and have spent the last few days trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. My dad has the same smoker, and so do quite a few of my neighbors.

I live in Shawnee, KS, a suburb of Kansas City.

My daughter's first birthday is in a few weeks, and I am planning to smoke a couple of pork butts for the party. I think I am going to break my smoker in by smoking some ribs on Sunday.

That is a good choice of meat for trying out your new smoker. You can't hardly go wrong with a butt, provided you have a good temp gage and a accurate meat thermometer and use the knowledge learned from this site to guide you through. Good Luck, you will do great and post some Q-view if you can. Oh yeah welcome to this wonderfull site, glad to have ya

Hi Muley, welcome to SMF. To get ready for your daughter's birthday weekend, I suggest signing up for Jeff's free 5-day eCourse. Will give you all the information needed to get some successful smokes under your belt, and with all the friendly people here, holler if ya need anything!

Welcome to SMF and congrats on the new smoker

Welcome to the forum Muley. Good luck with the birthday smoke.
