Hi everyone! i'm an extreme noob when it comes to barbeque, so please be gentle :D

a friend of mine gave me a brinkmann smokin' pit(the old version)a year ago, as my old weber finally bit the dust.
sofar i've just used it as a grill, but i'm ready to take the next step and start somikg my own meat.

what tips and advice do you guys have for a total noob who has never smoked meat before?
and as far as mods to my smoker go, i have a welder, access to sheet steel and a fair amount of mechanical know-how (my wife says i'm a dangerous man, but every time i go into the garage she hightails it out of there.....maybe that wasn't a complement???)

anyway, i look forward to talking to y'all and soaking up all the advice i can
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Hi Bryan, I know a lot of people in Ottawa, do you know Cecil Beatty? I used to Clerk for him at his auctions when he had his auction out on Hwy 68.

I asked a ton of them, and I still do as I'm always learning more. But I must warn you, this place and the hobby of smoking could lead to a smoking addiction......

With that said, I'm glad your here and can't wait till you post some of your first bbq's for us to see.

Now, get smokin.....
