Hey there Everyone,

We are Bruce and Lisa, and we are "rookies" to the land of "smoked foods"! We visit the great state of Texas often, and enjoy fantastic smoked/BBQ meats at their varied BBQ restaurants. We bought a Smoke Hollow - electric smoker, to start learning how to create these fantastic flavors at home! We're sure there is trial and error with this cooking style, and we are hoping to get tips and help from this site!

Hey Bruce and Lisa

Hi I'm from Indiana too. I have the same kind of smoker you mentioned and would like to know how to best smoke a pork butt. I posted but no one replied. Where in Indiana are you?

The most important thing to remember with smoking meat is the meat will get done when it wants to get done. There are tricks to help it get done a little faster but you are still on the meats schedule. Nothing about smoking should be scary or intimidating its about relaxing drinking some adult beverages and waiting to put that smoky goodness in your mouth. When you have some specific questions about a cook be sure to ask the members will get you squared away.

Sorry you didn't get any advice on your question. I didn't see it or I would've offered some. Did you do the butt yet?

Hello Bruce and Lisa, welcome to the site, It may take you several time to get it just the way you want, But if you have questions just ask. I am a charcoal and stick burner, there are quite a few electric smoker members that can steer you in the right direction, Bearcarver does all his smoking on electric and is very helpful. (and a real nice guy to boot)
