I was running low on supplies and stopped in a Walmart that I had not been to in over a year.
Ended up finding R.O. Lump for $5 a 10lb bag. I bought all they had which was 10 bags.
First time I have ever seen this Lump anywhere around here and have been dieing to try it.

i have used it.......i like royal oak briquets quit often......better than kingsford..........cheaper.......lasts longer, and just as good of heat.....

used the lump.........basically the same as the others........Pops like popcorn, and burns fast
hotter fire tho i have to say...........

I love the lump, but have to pay 10.98 a 20 lb bag. Never had a problem with it. would recomend it to anyone. The stuff I buy is from america, not brazil or argentina.

Royal Oak lump is what I use in my BGE. I have not seen their briquettes, but I would love to try them.

Knowing what goes into making briquettes, why would anyone want to use anything but lump?

Starch, binders, clay and who knows what else. I'll pass on that, then there's the ash. Got no time to stop everything and shovel ash to finish the project!

Not trying to start any conflict, but I used to use briquettes, until I found a good lump, no turning back now.

been using briquettes for 30 years.........like i stated........lump doesn't werk for me......i have had it pop like popcorn........shooting embers 3-4 foot in the air, while getting the fire lit........even in a chimney.......sure don't want any body in the area, when it happens.......

plus it burns up faster.......and i have tried cowboy, ro, and several others
same story

like i guess its like drinking beer outta a can......compared to a bottle.......once you get used to the taste.....anything else is flat

just call me old fashion

ol crippled up d88de

I surely hope you didn't take my response personal, It wasn't meant to be. I probably should have not posted what I did.Just trying to give advice

by the way, cowboy and royal lump are not even close to the same. Cowboy is like the 4th of July compaired to RO. So they are not all the same.

no no no no...........not that..........

its just that my dealings with it, hasn't been good........sure wouldn't want grandkids around..........but i have used it in a ecb gourmet..........not a snp clone.............

it burned up fast........but it does give off alot of heat.......so i suppose.......if you deal with it enuff, and can figure out how much to use.....be cheaper in the end run............

but with me with royal oak.......i believe it has less binders and crap.....tho i DO know it has it............but all my expericene has been with briquettes...........just learned bout lump since i joined here...........

but i am going to have to learn summin new, since i GOT that snp clone for christmas...........heheheheh

but no.........no offense taken......its just my experience with lump has been a utter failure............but i do know its better over all

also btw.........i have done both RO and cowboy

I am familiar with how Lump differ's from charcoal. That was not an issue.
I have used Kingsfords Lump and Cowboy Lump. Had seen and heard great reviews were R.O. was concerned and had never been able to find it.
Since it was so scarce I wanted to get all I could.

Only thing those stores carry around here is Cowboy lump.
I was just excited to finally find some R.O. Lump in this area.
The R.O. Charcoal is easy to find.

around here the only major chain that I have seen RO lump at is , Menards, and Gordon food service.

i have not found any r o lump around here been using oak chunks with kingsford that i can get at sams for 19.99 for about 43lbs
