Well, I got my uppers pulled Monday, and got my new teeth today. As soon as the swelling goes down I will take a pic for y'all to see. I haven't really had any pain from the extractions. Just a little swelling. Two days with no upper teeth was kind of rough. Get to eat real food tonight, or try to- salmon patties, mac 'n cheese, and pinto beans. Tired of soup and jello.

Hey hang in there my friend. You are doing a wonderful thing in continuing your opportunity to enjoy smoked food! I cannot imagine what you are going through, as dentists are a necessary evil in my book. I cringe at the scene of the dental-torture in the old 70's movie "The Running Man" GADS!

Good to hear you got the new teeth. May take a little getting used to but life will be better.

When i had mine done i'd had a bunch pulled months earlier and was left with the front ones. Had them pulled later and went straight to dentist for the dentures. First meal was a french dip sandwich ...... tasted great.

Sounds like you have a good menu there to start with. Glad you're not having any pain either.

Just think Chris. Pretty soon it will be BRISKET time!

Fast recovery!

Chris, glad all is working out for you!! Continue the successful recovery.

Glad to hear you got taken care of, Chris. It takes a little getting used to, but before long you won't even notice. When I had mine done, I made them take 'em all! Sure got tired of milk shakes after a few days.

Try a broke jaw on. Milk shakes for 6 weeks. I did not drink another until I broke my jaw a second time. I bet I have not had 5 milk shakes in the last 30 years.

Can't compete with goat, but i gotta get the old wisdom's pulled right before memorial day weekend, all four of 'em! I've been putting it off for years but can't take it any more. Looks like we all pay our dues for some good smoked Q! Maybe if you smoke your meat long enough, you can mash it up and drink it through a straw. I'll be here sharing your misery in a few weeks!

I had my wisdoms pulled a long time ago. I had all 10 remaining uppers pulled. I will be glad when the stitches are dissolved, and my gums are healed up. They do feel funny though, you are right about that. Feels kinda like the "vampire teeth" we wore as kids. The hardest part so far is the "gag reflex" I have been having with them in.

The salmon patties and mac 'n cheese was pretty easy to eat. We didn't have the beans. I didn't do any shakes, don't really care for them to start with. I survived on cream of chicken soup and jello for the last couple of days, with tea to drink with no ice in it- just cold out of the fridge. I have only had 2 of the hydrocodones, but I have been taking the prescription Motrin (800MG), along with the penicillin. I have a question for the other denture wearers here- do you have to wait until you are all healed up before you use any adhesive?

I really don't use adhesive that often if at all now. My dentist explained that the tight fit should create suction. I tried some after a week or so but boy, if you don't like the gag reflex then wait until that is really under control before trying adhesive. I did use adhesive for the first couple of months until i got used to them and felt confident in the fit etc .....

Hang in there, the gag thing is tough but you'll learn to control it soon enough.

If you get any sore spots do go back to your dentist for an adjustment. You'll be glad you did !!

Not to be picky Rivet, but I think that was Dr Zell in "The Marathon Man" with Dustin Hoffman. "Is it safe?" Yeah that freaked me out too.
