I live in Western Maine just outside of Fryeburg.  I've been wanting to try smoking for several years now.  I looked and looked and looked and finally decided to just pull the trigger.  Friday I ordered my Masterbuiilt 20070910 30" Digital Electric Smokehouse from Amazon. Monday morning when I got home from work it was laying under my steps in the pouring rain.  Tuesday night I seasoned it and today, I smoked two racks of pork ribs and a whole chicken cut in half.

Wow!

I'm in love.  Is this the best smoker out there?  I don't know.  Nor do I care.  Worst case scenario is that I had some wicked good tasting ribs for dinner.  I used a simple rub recipe that I found online and sauced and wrapped one of the racks while leaving the other dry.  Holy smokes.  I'm impressed for my first time out.  I can't wait to take some of my ribs to work tomorrow and share with some of my friends.

Always welcome to new ideas.  New recipes. New techniques.

I used pecan wood for this batch but have some apple and cherry that I want to try as well.  There's something about fruit woods that I find appealing.

If you have any good suggestions or just want to swap howdies, hit me up.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
