I was just thinking about this slicer that I've had and thought maybe others might like it too?

It works great and fast as hell and easy to clean, you can slice about anything with it from french fries, potato chips, hash browns and any vegetables. works good on onion slices for burgers and tomatoes. Its the best damn little slicer there is and worth the forty dollars it costs.

I have added this slice to our Smokers & More link at the top of the page.. you can see it at http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/products/oxo-good-grips-v-blade-mandoline-slicer where you can review it, add it to your lists, etc.

I also noticed that Amazon has this a little cheaper than BB&B.[IMG]

Just like the other ads, I do make a small referral off of every sale. For me that is nice in helping to support the forum but I also think it is nice to have our own place to review the products that we use instead of sifting through a ton of stuff that is totally irrelevant to smoking meat.

Look at it this way.. would you rather buy something based on reviews from strangers or would you rather buy something based on reviews from folks you know?

Your review above on the Oxo slicer makes me want one.. if a total stranger told me that I might not be so inclined.[IMG]

Chefs choice 645 is it worth the price ? My slicer died in middle of slicing up my 14 pds of Venison Dreid Beef..So wondering what brand & model holds up

Don't know what you had, but the Chef's Choice 645 sells on Amazon for around $400.00. If your old slicer was comparable I'd take the motor in for a rebuild.

Depending on how much of a hurry you are I would check with local mom & pop deli's & sandwich shops and local butchers & supermarkets for a used mach. 1st. While $400. is a decent amount of cash it really doesn't buy a quality slicer. More of a household, light duty machine. You may get lucky, I picked up an old American brand slicer 8 or 10 years ago from a luncheonette for $50. bucks that would probably cost $2000. dollars today! In the mean time while I can't say how good these are they are on sale pretty cheap especially with the additional 20% off code.

Never heard of them so I don't have any reviews. This looks like the same except it's an FS860 instead of an 850. Little cheaper and free ship. You can always try it and ship back if it's no good!

You might also ask on the Smoking Gadgets and Tools thread, maybe you'll get more responses.

I contacted the company and it is the same unit FS-850 was a typo on the other site I had found it on .. So it is the FS-860 we are talking about. One year warranty which from what I've seen is pretty standard on slicers

A little cheaper on ATG.com. You can also go to lowe's and order it from them threw ATG and have it sent to the store or shipped to you. The best part is no credit card on line....you pay lowes.
