Hey Everyone.  Just bought a stick burner (Brinkmann Trailmaster LE) so I could start learning the art.  Grew up all over the country as an Army brat; went to college at Virginia Tech; moved to Orlando, Florida to start my career (lived there 15 yrs); recently moved to Utah (Salt Lake City area) for work, and suddenly discovered there is not nearly as much good BBQ here as there was back East.  As of this moment, I have yet to fire up the smoker, but have read a lot about my Brinkmann on this site.  Looking forward to learning.  Have a great day, y'all.

Well HokieSmoke, Welcome to SMF from Midvale Utah. If you have a hankering for good que that you don't want to cook yourself, check out Pat's BBQ in South Salt Lake.

Please take a moment and update your profile to show your location.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Enjoy the Smoke!

Hello and welcome from East Texas, glad you joined the group

Thanks, Dutch.  I found Pat's a while back.  Glad I did.  I also found two other places I like:  Q4U BBQ Truck (near Sapp Bros truck stop), and Five Star BBQ Co. (Orem).

Welcome, Hokie! Don't know what Utah's like these days, but lived there for awhile 20+ years ago and know what you mean about limited culinary options. In a lot of ways, Utah started me on my personal food journey, beginning with the need to replicate the pizza of my native Chicago (nailed it). Anyway, you have the advantage of this newfangled "internet" thing which I didn't have back then, so fire away with questions and you'll be smokin up serious Q before you know it.

Hey

Welcome to the Smoking  forum.   You’ll find great , friendly people here, all more than willing to answer any question you may have.  Just ask and you’ll get about 10 different answers—all right.  LOL.   Don’t forget to post qviews.

Is T still running Q4U? I know he lost his place down on 54th when the state did roadwidening. Nice to know he's still around!

T is running a BBQ truck these days.  It's still called Q4U.  His restaurant was apprently gone before I ever moved to Utah; so I only know his truck.  Wednesday thru Friday, he's on a street corner near Sapp Bros Truck Stop.  Saturday and Sunday, he's at Sportsmans Warehouse.  He's also on Facebook.   Follow him, and he lets everyone know where he's gonna be each day and announces specials.

Hi HokieSmoke. There's a good place on 6th south and 3rd west called R&R BBQ. Great brisket and sausage. Give it a try. On Tuesdays they have brisket tacos that are the best I've had. I came from Texas 15 years ago and had trouble finding good BBQ which led my to start making it myself. Pat's and R&R are about the closest to good Texas BBQ as I can find.
