Gonna purchase my first smoker

Discussion in 'Roll Call' started by cookmi1, Mar 31, 2014.

  1. I have been wanting to buy a smoker for sometime now and I am finally gonna do it. I plan to purchase the 3895GWLA in the next day or 2. If anyone has any feedback on this particular smoker, let me know.

  3. Good afternoon and welcome to SMF, I am not familiar with that smoker, but I'll bet someone on here is. Let me pull up a picture and some info and see if I can help.

Great to have you join us cookmi1, :welcome1: from North Dakota!
If you just enter Landmann Smokey Mountain in to the search I am sure you will find plenty of info including modification to improve the smokers performance!
  6. Thanks everyone, going to try and purchase the smoker today. Can't wait to throw a nice beef brisket in there.. My taste buds are watering just thinking about it. Also game day wings..
  7. Just a suggestion, after you get your smoker, I would do a couple of runs with chicken, sausage something cheap, quick and easy just to get the feel of the smoker and make sure it is working correctly. Nothing worse than to be in the middle of a long cook and have one of those uh oh moments.

  8. That is a good suggestion.. Think I will take your advice on that, definitely don't need an uh-oh moment..

Just came back from Lowes from ordering my smoker.. Lowes had it listed at $503 on their website and Home depot has it listed for $379. Lowes price matched + 10%, so it cost me $342.00.. Only bad thing is they had to order it.. No biggy, keeps me from rushing it..

I know I am going to be dreaming about this..
