Just joined folks after looking in for a couple of weeks whilst I debated buying a smoker. I've now taken the plunge and ordered a Weber Smokey Mountain. I originally hail from The Emerald Isle, lived in Scotland for a lot of years before moving to New Jersey 10 years ago. No smoking experience whatsoever so I'm going to need all the help I can get!! I've read some fantastic tips already so for that I am truly grateful.

Happy smoking

This is a great place to learn how to smoke. I started smoking about a year ago and didn't have much success until I found this forum. There is a lot of information in the posts and the members are very kind about answering questions and sharing their experience.

One of the ways I learned a lot was by posting my projects with pictures (Qview) and descriptions. I got a lot of suggestions and advice.

Welcome to SMF.

Thanks Disco! Yeah looking forward to the learning experience. Can't wait to get started!
Something you should be aware of. Smoking can be addictive. My missus has started to give me a hard time about the amount of time I spend smoking. If it wasn't for the great food, I would be in trouble!

I'm sure you will enjoy it too.

Welcome aboard!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
