I just found SMF thru a good friend and really like what I see. I am a long time smoker and griller and burn some meat every chance I get. I currently live in Louisiana, so have a longer grilling season than in past locations. Not to be slowed down, I was often seen sweeping snow off the picnic tables in Germany to break out the portable grill when stationed there in the Army.

I grill pretty much anything I can eat - meat (of course), vegetables, fish, pizza, stir fry.

I currently have a New Braunfels smoker and a Weber Kettle grill for everyday BBQ. One of the local New Orleans area chefs was recently featured in the newspaper and one of his quotes touched my heart - "The first thing you need to do, if you have a gas grill, is get rid of it!" Wood or charcoal is real BBQ and electricity if the landlord doesn't allow open flames.

I am looking forward to being a part of this forum.

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

If you need any help roaming around here in SMF....just give me a shout.  Happy to help any time!

Welcome Eagle, its not such a bad state after all. Now if we can just figure out how to smoke some of them craw-daddies. Sorry couldn't help myself there, saw that on the Beverly hillbillies once and still laugh about it. All the hippies at the park smoking craw daddies.....LOL

Ifs a great place, the search engine is bustin at the seams with knowledge. I mean were else could ya find recipes for smoked deviled eggs. The Guru's you've started meetings are like the resident experts, what they don't know, they know the phone number to call and find out. They have everyone from food microbiologists to alligator gar hunters here so when presenting a question be specific. Did I mention the people? Out-frickin standing, a nice balanced mob of Heinz varieties.

When you have a question, first try the search engine, then ask a Guru for further explanation or maybe some small point you didn't understand. Take pictures, everyone here wants to enjoy your smoking abilities growth, besides you might do something we need to try also.

Its nice to meet you, if I can help you and you don't see me on, just drop me a /PM.

Enjoy your smoke and welcome to my addiction.
