Hi, I'm Joe from Lumberton in SE Tx. I'm really looking forward to learning from the group. I'm not exactly a rookie but I've never taken this real seriously either. I have an offset smoker made out of schedule 80 pipe that, once up to temp, is very easy to regulate. Problem is, unless I want to put on 4 or 5 briskets, it is a lot of trouble. So 3 or so years ago I got a bradley thinking it would get used more often. It definitely has but the pucks are expensive so I just picked up a MES. I've got it seasoned and have a pork butt thawing. So first smoke will be in a couple of days. Like I mentioned, I know I can learn a lot from this group, great tips and recipes as well as probably a few "hacks" to improve the hardware.

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  From Mathis, near Corpus Christi.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Thanks Danny for the welcome. I've been busy mining the forums since I discovered you. Lots to digest. And it looks like I'll be getting a mail box for he MES soon.
I do know Mathis. I'm originally from west Tx but parents moved to Beeville and I to Port Lavaca before moving to SE Texas.
And I assume your username is your call sign. I am KF5LW. But I don't think you are in 5 land anymore.
Again, thanks for the welcome and I'm looking forward to this journey. Joe

Hello Joe.  Nice to hear from Home.  Not many folks catch the call sign.  Since moving to England I have let my ticket expire because it isn't AS big over here, but I still use it for a user name.  He isn't on so much anymore due to health but should you hear KC5DYC give him a shout, that's my Dad.  Glad to have you on the forum.  If I can help with anything don't hesitate to PM me.  If I don't know the answer I'll bet I know someone who does, we can learn together.

Hey Joe, welcome from East Texas

Thank you for the welcome Gary. Wife's sister lives in Tyler so know Whitehouse. Actually I think they are closer to you than Tyler. Don't remember the road number (364?) but I take a right at the Exxon station. Keep going and I think I end up in Whitehouse. So maybe you can turn me on to some good BBQ places next time I'm through there.

Joe

346,  I live just off 346   You bet several good places around here.
