That looks awesome, Farmer! Looks like you and I had the same idea this week. I did this RB on my mini today. Same sort of prep with SPOG. I smoked over cherry and post oak. Many excellent sandwiches are ahead for us!!

My son wanted to learn to how use my mini so he can use it camping. We decided to do pork butt. it was a 5 pounder. Should have taken 7.5-8 hours took 9.

This is the first time I had to do a refill on the charcoal, at about 7 hours I heated up another 12 coals and put them in the mini. all in all came out ok and he is hooked!

Looks like it turned out great!   That's cool he's hooked on BBQ.

What temp did you cook at?  My last one on the mini was 10.5 lbs  and took 7 1/2 hours cooked at 290 average.   It was about 20 degres out and i had close to another hour of fuel left...couldn't have been happier.

I was trying to run at 250-275 but that was on the thermometer in the wall of the mini I then put my Maverick on the grate (with it's stand) and I think it was 250 or slightly less. It was warm out but windy, I had a partial wind block.

I wonder also because it was a "made up" i.e. pork butt that was wrapped in a net for a slow cooker if that made a difference, it seemed like it was firmer when bought, held together tighter Of course it was the only butt in the store.

I have found my mini less susceptible to wind than the 14.5
