hello folks, newbie here. I'm making a smoker out of a big stainless power box. I need some gasket material 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick that will stand up to 300 degrees of heat. Anybody know where I can find some?

I'm lucky and have a gas store right down the road that carries just about anything I might need for a smoker.
Stove rope is the way to go. I found it was not available at the big box hardware stores in the length I needed. They only had kits with 5'-7' lengths included, but you might find more on a roll at a fireplace store in your area.
I found the length I needed on ebay for a decent price.
I just used two pieces of the rope gasket. Butt them together and it will be fine. My seam is about knee high on both sides and not a drop of smoke comes out.
