My name is jeff. Im newish to smoking, ive smoked ribs, couple of pork loins, and a whole chicken. Would it be wrong to use a marinade and a rub at the same time?

Welcome to the forum Jeff.

It's quite alright to use both, just rinse the marinade off & apply the rub.

I do that sometimes. i am going to be doing a brisket at the NC gathering this weekend that i will marinade in a flavored oil and then apply rub on top and they will work together-- the oil will make the rub stick better!

Happy Smoking,
