From the rain forest of Ohio

Discussion in 'Roll Call' started by smokingengineer, May 19, 2011.

  1. Ok, I don't actually live in a rain forest but I'm still wondering if it will ever stop raining. I've always loved good ribs and anything else smoked. So, I'm just getting into smoking and I still have a lot to learn.

I've been reading the great information on this forum for some time. And, I thank all of you for the great treasure of information here. So, I've come out of the shadows and hopefully I can learn more and perhaps help others in some small way.

  5. Well the rain may stop some day. But, I'm not crossing my fingers. Belpre is between 2 1/2 and 3 hours south of Cleveland right on the West Virginia and Ohio border.

Isn't it funny how Mother nature is. We need rain down here really bad & have for the last 4 years.
  7. Crazy thing is some places down south are flooding due to all of the rain up north. And, they've technically had a drought since they haven't received much rain.

  11. I would but I have to build my smoker first. I'm actually considering buying WSM so I can smoke a little while I'm building,

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us.

This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

Many of our members have years of experience in smoking meat.  They are more than happy helping Newbies learn the art.

We have members who cure there own Bacon, Hams, Jerky, Snack Sticks, Make Their own Sausage, etc. if you want to learn,
    this is the place.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of them and follow their advice. You won't be sorry, you will be making great Q in no time at all...

Just remember, when curing your own meats follow the instructions included with the cure to the letter, this is not something to experiment with.

Never use more cure no mater if it is Tender Quick or Cure #1 or Cure #2 than the manufacturer says to use, this can be very dangerous.

Tender Quick and Cure#1 or Cure #2 are not interchangeable, neither Cure #1 interchangeable with Cure #2 or vise versa
