Fly the Flag 9/11/07

Folks, I received this e-mule a couple of days ago about flying the American Flag on 9/11. I'm not a fan of "chain e-mails" so if you want to pass this along, it's your call.

Several years ago POTUS designated 9/11 as Patriot Day and stated that the U.S. Flag should be flown at half-staff. Here is a link that goes into detail http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0030904-7.html

Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this
email immediately to everyone in your address book asking them to also
forward it. We have a little less than one week and counting to get the
word out all across this great land and into every community in the
United States of America. If you forward this email to least 11 people
and each of those people do the same..you get the idea.

THE PROGRAM IS THIS:
On Tuesday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States.
Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag
on this anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor
of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood
shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but
disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it
shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do...
(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people).
Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think
back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11.

Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't,
then at least make it a priority on this day.

dutch,,,i cant agree with you more on this subject. since 9-12-01 i have flown a flag daily and have taken it in at night.i really should just wire up a dedicated light for the flag....9-11-01 is a day i will never forget,as a new yorker and a ground zero worker...i am employed by the city of new york and am proud to say that i spent a long few weeks working and sifting through the pile of debris and body parts that was left of part of my city...i had lost friends,and i have a few coworkers who lost their wives and are left to raise small children.please if anyone on this site flies a flag even once a year,fly it on 9-11.never forget...god bless america

God bless the workers and those who lost their lives that day. You did a great service for all American's panhead. Thank you for performing that difficult task.

I hope that no American ever forgets the events of that day. I was raising hell at my sons school because their history textbooks stopped at 1989. Can you believe that? Twenty years of history with the single most significant event to happen this century, and our kids won't hear about it. I make sure my son understands what happened that day and why it is the reason that his uncle has to go overseas for long periods of time.

His uncle gave us a flag that flew over Iraq. I won't put that out, but I have another that is hanging downstairs. I will make sure it is out on 9/11.

My flag flies EVERY day on the pole out by the driveway. Has a flood light on it at night.

I too fly the flag daily. I really need to get a new ground socket so I can raise my 20ft flag pole!

I regret to admit that I decommisioned my flag due to wear and have yet to replace it. Thanks for the reminder, I knew that there was an empty feeling in me for some reason. I will be purchasing a new flag as soon as I can.


As for half staff, I always fly my flag at full height. No disrespect to the flag code or those to be honored, my sympathies are in my heart and remembrance is in my mind and may or may not be visable for all to see, but there, none the less. The reason that I do not lower the flag to half staff is to allow it to been seen at greater distances. The purpose of a flag after all is to be seen. It is a sign to all that can see it that at least from the top of the pole to the base of the pole, this one spot is still America and still holds to some pretty high ideas and standards.


I will make sure to remind a few fellow Americans, but the truth be told, I don't think many have really forgotten.

I have been a everyday American flag flier since 911. By the way, you can obtain quality US flags that were flown over our US Capitol for about the same price as anywhere else on the internet. Just look around the website of your state senator/representative for a link.

I have a flag decal on every wndow of my car and one on the antenna I also have two small ones (4x6) and one bigger one (8x11) on little poles stuck in my rear seat that wave as I drive that have been mounted there since 9/18/01 and there they shall remain until out brothers and sisters come home.

I don't know if they still have any available, but this sounds like a good choice for anyone not wanting to purchase one.
