When I'm cold smoking with the AMNPS in my Masterbuilt 44 inch, I see smoke leaking out through the door joint. That's with no heat and every vent on it wide open, including the new 6 inch vent I recently installed. When I'm hot smoking, it's worse.

I decided I'm smarter than a smoker, so I fixed it. I smeared a thin film of lard on the door jamb of the cabinet and then applied a bead of 500* rated silicone caulk to the door where it meets the jamb. I shut the door, latched it and left it sit to cure overnight.

The door doesn't leak anymore.

Way to go, Jim!!! Wish I would thought of that with my old GOSM 3405-GW, or even my SV-24...it might have helped on my SnP, but that design had some really serious gaps (to the point that I didn't want to mess with gasket rope). I'll mention this to my son, though (he's using my SV-24).

Points for utilizing a simple and effective method!!!

Thanks, Eric.

Make sure he understands the concept of the lard on the jamb. Otherwise, he'll glue the door shut!

Yep, that would ruin a guys day, not to mention knock you down a couple rungs on the ladder...it sure would make a guy a bit more humble, wouldn't it?
