My name is Kevin and I am originally from the Youngstown Ohio area and currently living in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio. I will be turning 50 end of the month and when asked by my wife and kids what I wanted for my birthday, all I said was a smoker. So today, my master built  20070910 30 inch smoker will be arriving at the house. I am super pumped. Cannot wait until the weekend to use it for first-time. The first question I have, and by the way, first of many probably, is what are the must haves that I will need for my smoker? And I do mean everything that will be needed not only to get started but to have for future needs. Hope not to dumb of a question and please no one respond with electricity haha.

Welcome to the forum.

I think the first thing I would buy is a good remote thermometer.

Lots of guys on here use the dual probe Mavericks.

Next I would get an Amazen smoke generator.

Those are the first two must have's.

They can both be bought at: http://www.amazenproducts.com/

I'm sure others will be along shortly with their suggestions.

Thanks Al for the advice. Going to be looking into that today.

Pick up a good pair of insulated gloves if you can find them. They help. A good carving knife is a must.
Read thru this site. Plenty of info in here. Top people here.

Get some Que Mats from Todd when you order, helps keep the shelves better.
